Martin a Hometown California Warrior Winner!

Martin a Hometown California Warrior Winner!

Cody Morris, California, Missouri (5-27-2012) - Following a Saturday night push at LA Raceway, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region struck the final note of their Memorial Day Weekend double with a Sunday night stand at California, Missouri’s Double X Speedway (Paul Gray Photo).

Starting outside front row of the 25 lap Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region main event, hometown favorite Randy Martin added to another notch in an illustrious career of Missouri sprint car racing.

Martin immediately placed the Rousch/Yates powered Diamond Pet Foods no. 14 J&J in the early lead and went unchallenged to earn his second Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region win of the young season.

Martin was chased to the stripe by season opening Warrior winner and current ASCS Warrior point leader Jonathon Cornell, with Adam Jones advancing a spot to claim show position honors at the finish line.

Nixa, Missouri’s Kyle Bellm turned in a remarkable performance after being caught in an opening lap six car scrum that disable both a shock and a Jacob’s Ladder on the 86 machine, as well as removing Bellm to the tail of the field for the complete restart.

With a severely wounded mount, Bellm charged from the tail of the field to a fourth place finish, earning the Hard Charger effort in the eyes of every Double X patron. However, official Hard Charger honors belong to an equally deserving Tyler Blank. Blank advanced 11 positions en route to his fifth place finish.

Jonathon Cornell, Brad Graham, and Gabe Maycock earned heat race victories over the 26 car ASCS Warrior field, with Wyatt Burks taking the first transfer in the night’s only 10 lap B Feature.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region bounces back into action in three weeks with a Friday June 15th outing against the ASCS Midwest Region at Cameron, Missouri’s US 36 Speedway. The ASCS Warrior then go solo for their third trip to LaMonte, Missouri’s LA Raceway the following night, Saturday, June 16th.
